Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey has voiced support for pro-crypto presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

In a Sunday tweet, the tech billionaire shared a YouTube video titled “Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. argues he can beat Trump and DeSantis in 2024” writing, “He can and will.”

In response to a user who asked whether he was endorsing or predicting, he replied, “Both.”

Kennedy, a relative of President John F. Kennedy and son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, shares Dorsey’s strong belief in Bitcoin.

He referred to the cryptocurrency as an “exercise in democracy” during his well-received keynote speech at a Bitcoin conference in Miami, calling Bitcoin a “bulwark” against “government and corporate expansion and intrusion” at the time, adding:

“As president, I will make sure that your right to hold and use Bitcoin is inviolable.”

Kennedy also pledged to protect the right to hold and use Bitcoin, emphasizing the right to self-custody of digital assets. “I don’t think the government has the right to demand access to your Bitcoin key or indeed any of your passwords,” he said.

Kennedy to Challenge Biden for the Democratic Nomination

In April, Kennedy announced his plan to run for the White House in 2024, making him the second Democratic Party candidate to challenge Joe Biden in his presumed bid for re-election.

“I’ve come here today to announce my candidacy for Democratic nomination for President of the United States,” Kennedy said at the time.

“My mission over the next 18 months of this campaign, and throughout my presidency, will be to end the corrupt merger of state and corporate power that is threatening now to impose a new kind of corporate feudalism on our country.”

Kennedy is known for his skepticism towards vaccines and was appointed by President-elect Donald Trump in 2017 to lead a presidential panel on vaccine safety and science, which drew condemnation from public health experts and scientists.

In 2021, Instagram removed Kennedy’s account for repeatedly sharing false information about Covid in violation of their policies regarding the pandemic.

According to a national poll from USA TODAY/Suffolk University, 14% of voters who backed Biden in 2020 would support Kennedy in 2024.

However, Dorsey is more optimistic. When a Twitter user commented there was “not a chance the DNC [Democratic National Committee] allows him to be nominated,” Dorsey replied, “Even more reason.”

He later added that the DNC “seems more irrelevant by the day” and wrote “end of an empire,” to which Tesla CEO and current Twitter owner Elon Musk replied with two fire emoji.
