After leaving the Unconfiscatable conference with some new hardware and other goodies, BitcoinNews decided it would be interesting to dive into a review of the new Blockstream Jade wallet.

The packaging is clean and simple.

This is what it looks like right out of the box:

It’s a simple design, with one button on the front next to the screen. It also has a small camera on the back for scanning QR codes, a handy feature.

The Jade is fairly straightforward to set up. The wallet came with a basic guide and recovery sheet to make a paper wallet.

After downloading Blockstream Green, connecting the Jade and creating a new wallet was as easy as two clicks.

You can also import a Liquid BTC wallet directly into the Jade from the original BTC wallet that you create during setup. It’s intuitive and easy.

The only limitation of the Jade is the small scrolling wheel that’s used to navigate the menus. Restoring a seed phrase, for example, is not the easiest.

Overall, it’s a solid piece of hardware with added versatility in its ability to store Liquid- BTC assets. I would rate it as follows:
Ease of Use: 7/10
Quality: 6/10
Versatility: 9/10
Value for Price: 8/10
It’s no ColdCard, but for cold storage of Liquid-BTC assets, it does the trick.
Thanks, Blockstream!
